It’s a navy blue kind of day…

There’s no doubt that winter’s in full swing in Vancouver…  Looking out at the blue-grey skyline of the city on this rainy Monday sparked today’s inspiration board: navy blue with silvery accents.  This “cool” colour scheme is elegant and wonderfully wintery.

I love being able to include local vendors in my inspiration boards, and today I’ve got a few:  The gorgeous bouquets were made by Rose at Rose’s Flowers and Gifts (photo by John Heil Photography), and the lovely cake is from Tartlets, who do some truly amazing edible art!

…And it wouldn’t be a Revel Inspiration Board without at least a few items from Etsy: The vintage blue damask postcards would make excellent guest book paper—find them via Paper Schmaper’s website, or their Etsy store; while you’re on Etsy, check out Ola’s Dream World, where you’ll find this delightful feather-and-flower-fascinator.

Neither local nor Etsy, but still fabulous: Louboutin “Anemone” pumps, crisp white hydrangeas in navy cube vases, silver chiavari chairs, and other sparkly accents like bridesmaid dress sashes and silver charger plates complete this magical, icy-blue theme.

While the wedding season has pretty much drawn to a close in Vancouver, a new set of events seems to be taking centre stage for the winter: baby showers!  Now, maybe my generation has just reached “a certain age” but it seems to me (if my Facebook news feed is any indication!) that there’s a baby boom going on.  This weekend, a family friend whom I’ve known since I was in diapers welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, and that happy event has (partly) inspired this post.  My other inspiration today is my enduring obsession with handmade accessories!  Let’s face it: I’m a walking, talking, Etsy advertisement…
