Vancouver sassiest little wedding show is just around the corner! The Indie I Do is celebrating its fourth year of bringing Vancouver couples together with fun, independent, local wedding vendors, and this year Revel Events is one of them!

Because one wedding style doesn’t fit all, the Indie I Do aims to introduce you to the people who can help you wed… YOUR way! Our goal is to help you find those perfect little somethings that express who you are as a couple: unique, perhaps a little irreverent, but most of all, madly in love!

Wedding season has begun!

How do I know wedding season has begun? Because I haven’t had time to blog in weeks and weeks! Thought I’d do a quick update on what’s happening around here.

Tomorrow, I’m off to do a site inspection on Gambier Island.  I hope the weather gods decide to smile on me and give me a little sunshine!  Regardless, though, this is going to be one spectacular, unique, very west-coast wedding.  Can’t wait.

Friday night I’ll be taking in the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival Tasting.  Mmmmmmm!  But a vendor meeting the next morning with Donna over at Savoury City Catering means that I must be very, very selective… Maybe I should use those spit buckets—I hear that’s what they’re there for!

This weekend marks my first wedding of the 2011 season, and I’m so excited to be working at the gorgeous Roundhouse Community Centre with some really fabulous Vancouver vendors.  Stay tuned for a post all about it!

And that’s the next few days in the life of Revel Events.  It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.  ;)

We put our candy jars to excellent use this week.  They were way fuller a few days ago, though… I had to get the camera out before the candy was just a distant memory!

Put a face to the name!

Recently, I had the opportunity to do a headshot session with The Other Angle Photography, who’ve done a Vendor Profile of me on their blog today!  Nick and Deb are a husband-and-wife team who are super fun to work with.  We had a blast exploring the lights of Vancouver’s Olympic Village last week.  I haven’t seen all the images yet (I’m so excited!) but based on the ones in their blog post, I’m a very happy gal!  Here’s a sneak peek:

New year, new look for the Revel Events blog!

I was starting to feel like the old brown theme was clashing with all my inspiration boards, so I decided to go with a white theme. Then I looked at lots of white themes and was bored, so I settled on this great polka-dotty theme that fits in beautifully with the Revel Events aesthetic.

So, how do you like our new look?  I think I’ll have my graphic designer work up a prettier header… but other than that, I’m pleased!

The Best Thing I Ever Made

The best behind-the-scenes thing about my WordPress blog is that there are all of these amazing “Blog Stats” features that I can nerd out on.  I can see how people found my blog, what they looked at once they got here… and don’t even get me started on the visitors-per-day bar graph!  It’s crazy to think that since I started blogging a year ago, people have found their way to my humble little page almost 6,000 times!

I wanted to post something to commemorate my blog-iversary, so I checked my stats.  Today, someone found their way to my blog by googling “Revel Cakes” (yes, we make cakes!) so I thought I’d post a photo of the best thing I made this year, which may also be the best thing I have ever made in my life.

Through the magic of Facebook, Mandip found my guitar hero cake and it apparently inspired enough faith to hire me to make her husband’s birthday cake.  Her only stipulation was, “make Jeremy a cat cake.”  Her wish was my command!

When I delivered this puppy (er, kitty) to the Irish Heather, the chef came out of the kitchen and asked me if I wanted to work for them!  Compliments don’t get much better than that!

Cocktails for a Cause: A great success!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Pink Party for the Cure at Public Lounge on September 19!  Torrential rain didn’t stop us from raising lots of cash for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and we enjoyed some delicious cocktails while doing so.  Who could ask for more!?
