This delicious spread of treats didn’t last long, but luckily Nick of The Other Angle Photography got a chance to snap some shots of it before the vultures descended.  Thanks, Nick!

Fantastic Invitations by Ello There

13 Oct

I can’t claim to be revealing some hidden jem with this post, since Martha Stewart Weddings has already done so…  But still, I just had to post a profile of Ello There, since these invites were the highlight of my Etsy browsing session today.  Based out of Seattle, Seth and Maddy custom design invites that are just oozing with personality.  Via their shop, you can order paper invites or digital files to print on your own. Check them out, here.

Which one’s your favourite?

Inspired by 50s Brides

10 Oct

This week, I’ve been fixated on 50s brides…  How could you not be inspired by the likes of the gorgeous Grace Kelly, Dorothy Dandridge, Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Elizabeth Taylor?  Drool with me!

Of course, I’m not alone in this obsession.  Check out these contemporary vintage-inspired gowns that, in many cases, come with much cheaper price tags than the average wedding gown.

Clockwise from top left: an amazing vintage-inspired wedding shoot by CK Metro Photography; laundromat shoot by Christine Farah, dress designed by Bridal Bliss Designs; the pink pin-up shot features just one of many amazing dresses made by Dolly Couture, most of which retail for under $600; bottom right is a dress designed by the aptly-named Audrey and Grace Couture on Etsy; to die for peach dress by Ellana Couture on Etsy; London’s Candy Anthony designed this sweet-but-edgy crimson-crinolined confection; the dreamy photo on the bottom left gets my vote for best-ever use of tulle!

Cocktails for a Cause: A great success!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Pink Party for the Cure at Public Lounge on September 19!  Torrential rain didn’t stop us from raising lots of cash for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and we enjoyed some delicious cocktails while doing so.  Who could ask for more!?

Big, huge thanks to Jen and Bob of Bob Homer Photography for coming out and documenting the festivities.  Those of you who attended the soiree can look for your smiling faces here.  Remember, the cost of any shots you purchase will go directly to the CBCF.  So, you know, why not get my mug plastered on a mug?  ;)

PS—those of you who love vintage fashion MUST check out local designer Messica Demolition, who made my gorgeous pink pin-up dress!

Sarah and Eric ~ July 31, 2010

6 Oct

Earlier this summer, we had a Revel wedding in Washington State.  Yesterday, I was so excited to get word from the fabulous Jaqui of Jaquilyn Shumate Photography that the photos of Sarah and Eric’s wedding at their family residence on Puget Sound are ready!  Jaqui and her husband, Travis, were such fun to work with.  What more could you want in a pair of wedding photographers than a beautiful husband-and-wife team who are madly in love?  Priceless!  Here’s a little sampling of the loveliness they captured that day.

In the morning, Sarah’s family hosted the ceremony and brunch reception in University Place, Washington.  Check out the stunning view!  Sarah’s mom, Linda, is an avid gardener and spent months making sure that the flowers in the yard were not only at their best, but were matched to the jewel-tone colour scheme of the wedding.  Now that’s dedication!  To complement her existing garden, bouquets and centrepieces were provided by Seattle’s Marigold and Mint, whose creations were incredible.  I don’t have a close-up of Sarah’s bouquet, but zoom in!  It’s fabulous!

FUN FACT: The officiant for Sarah and Eric’s ceremony was a delightful woman named—get ready for it—Mary Yu.  (If that fact doesn’t sound fun to you, say it out loud.)

After a delicious meal, a bouquet toss to the married gentlemen, and the welcome emergence of the sun, the happy couple and their guests headed in to Seattle to the tres chic Sole Repair Shop in Capitol Hill for cocktails, canapes, and dancing.  The food and drinks were delicious and the venue looked great; beyond that, the staff were so friendly, fun, and helpful.  I want to take another trip to Seattle just to see them again! ;)   At the cocktail reception, photographers Jaqui, Travis, and Jeramie brought the main attraction upstairs: a photobooth with hilarious props that kept the crowds entertained in between dances.  I can’t wait to see those photos!

The whole day was full of love and laughter, and was a blast to be a part of.  If I ever get another chance to work with clients in Seattle, I will be all over it!  What an incredible day.

If you’re a Seattlite planning an event, I can’t recommend the following vendors highly enough:
